Position

Weed Science Research and Teaching (80% Research/20% Teaching)

Responsibilities

Dr. Brecke conducts research in turfgrass weed management. His duties include developing, coordinating, and conducting fundamental and applied research on cultural and chemical weed control tactics for turfgrass. Areas of emphasis include: 1) development, evaluation and implementation of integrated weed management systems, 2) study and characterization of basic weed/turfgrass interactions including variation among weed biotypes and the long-term effects of various weed management practices on weed population dynamics and 3) study of weed interference mechanisms. Current turfgrass research activities include herbicide evaluation, study of the impact of selected herbicides on purple nutsedge growth and tuber production, and development of integrated weed management systems. Teaching responsibilities include an undergraduate weed science course and graduate student education.
